What is Concrete Canoe?

Our Concrete Canoe team is at the core of our mission to support Minnesota’s brightest civil engineering students. Concrete Canoe designs, builds, and rows 20-foot concrete canoe to compete against other schools on a regional and national level. Concrete Canoe provides students with countless learning opportunities, hands-on experience, and an inclusive environment to meet new people. The team works with concrete mix design, canoe hull design, concrete construction techniques, and aesthetic design to create the best possible canoe and build a great community in the process. Each year we participate in ASCE’s Student Symposium to compete in their flagship events and the materials, transportation, and organizational costs add up. Sponsorships help us purchase better materials, fund our trip to the regional competition, and create a stronger community in the process. This helps us build a better canoe, and more importantly, a better future for students at the University of Minnesota.
