Career Fair
Each fall, we invite 40+ of the Midwest’s best engineering firms and agencies to our ASCE Career Fair. Every company at our fair is looking specifically for Civil, Environmental, and Geo-Engineering students from the University of Minnesota to hire. It’s the best opportunity to connect with potential employers! This career fair is 100% student led and is made specifically to benefit our members.
General Meetings
Each month, we invite engineers from a local engineering firm to the CEGE building to talk to us about their internship and job openings, recent big projects, and their journey in the civil engineering world. It’s free food and an opportunity to learn more about the profession from actual practicing engineers, there’s nothing better!
Social Events
It’s not just about working hard, but also having fun! At the University of Minnesota ASCE chapter, we love to go to sports games, participate in intramurals, have cookouts, and paint nights, or maybe just hang out in the office for a chat. The fun never ends here!
Build Teams
We have two world-class design and build teams that compete each spring at the regional ASCE Student Symposium. The Concrete Canoe team designs, builds, decorates, and races a canoe made entirely concrete. The Steel Bridge team designs, fabricates, and builds a 1:10 model of a steel bridge to hold the highest possible load. Both teams give CEGE students real engineering skills that will help them in their future work.
